Not really a primer but I like to use it as one occassionally. It's labeled as a night treatment for reducing inflammation. If you use a morning moisterizer that leaves you a little shiny, putting this on before your mineral foundation will help it grab onto your skin. I love to use this when my skin is just not happy but I can't use it too often because it dries my skin out. Great to dab on problem areas to dry out pimples. I just feel a little better that I have it on hand. This is my favorite Larenim product.
I have extremely oily skin and was really looking forward to using this product after reading all the promises it made. It claimed to form a barrier between your skin and your make-up so the oil would not come through. My skin was just as oily as ever, if not worse. After about 30 minutes to an hour, without exaggeration, my face looked like someone sprayed it with cooking spray. I've used it several times to give it a shot, but it still did not work. I also bought this product along with three other VERY expensive Jane Iredale products under the pretense that I could return it if I didn't like it. When I got my products and receipt it stated on the back that Jane Iredale is non-refundable, only they didn't mention that on the website I oredered from.
Pros:None Cons:Very expensive, doesn't work, doesn't smell very good, and non-refundable so you are left with a crappy expensive product.
Pure Luxe Eraser is awesome! This product is great for blurring pores and lines. I have BIG pores on my cheeks and forehead. I have three lines on my forehead. Eraser does an unbelievable job of masking my flaws. The product is colorless and would most likely work with all skin colors.
I thought the price was hefty when I bought my 10ml jar. I have found that you use such a small amound that it is not expensive at all. I have had my 10ml since the beginning of May. I have only used the product in the lid and neck. These little jars are packed with product. Please don't be put off by the price. I bet my 10ml jar will last until September (maybe longer). That will be 5 months of use for $16.00!
The unfortunate thing about Eraser is that everyone uses it wrong (including me). When I first received Eraser I rubbed it in. I never bothered to read the instructions on the website. Due to the fact that Eraser is essentially a gel/paste consistency you must PAT it on to receive results.
Make sure to use it BEFORE and AFTER foundation. I use my Eraser before foundation and AFTER foundation AND finishing power. Using it after all MMU products is the best way to get your pores to reduce tremendously! When I found the right way to use Eraesr it was an amazing difference. I don't want anyone not use Eraser because they didn't know the best way to use it and therefore thought it didn't work.
This is a great product and will give great results with the correct application technique. I highly recommend it!
Pros:Blurrs pores and lines (the main and best result of product use)! Gives a smooth surface for MMU application. Helps with oil control. Cons:NONE!
I have found my HG primer. Do not waste your money on the Smashbox one, save yourself $15 and buy this one. It goes on smooth just like the Smashbox primer, and a little goes a long way. I wore my foundation directly over the primer and it has not budged all day. My pores are also minimized, and it provided a smooth finish for my foundation. I am in love!
Pros:Smooth application, a little goes a long way, minimizes pores, makeup will not budge with this underneath. Cons:A little pricey, but not too bad.
Texture: A creamy gel, if that's possible to imagine. Not sticky, but it did not glide on as easily and evenly as I had expected. Color: Goes on translucent, but made my face shiny for quite some time which I wondered about. Smell: Not much, it's faint but not disturbing.
I was disappointed with the packaging of this sample, it cannot be easily closed to keep it from drying. It comes in a pouch that is very full (good) but if you try to fold it over to close it, more and more just spills out (bad!!).
So my results may have been affected by this primer drying out a little. The initial try: I did not see a major difference in the side I had applied this on with BE, and the side I just used no primer on. It flaked a little and I think it may just buff right off. The two other tries after: Flaky, smudgy mess! I don't remember having a foundation go on this badly. Especially after buffing the MMu in, it looked like my skin was peeling. I tried mixing the MMu with this primer to no avail. Looked like a bad sunburn. Overall effectiveness: I did not see enough potential to try it again or buy it full size. I'm disappointed because I like their other products. I keep trying this primer over and over, I don't get acceptable results even with the leftovers that are not so dried out.
Pros:Cheap sample, good price for a full-sized primer. Cons:Packaging is not useful. Flaked on me despite numerous attempts to make it work.
PureLuxe Eraser: Texture: Wow! I had heard about this stuff but words can't do it justice. Glides on smoothly but doesn't spread very far. Color: I got the classic translucent nude color. Scent: The smallest rubbery smell, but definitely not disturbing.
Not bad. Smaller sample than I hoped for, and like someone else said, it seems that I will run out of this faster than I would like to. Initial application: I did not see much improvement on the Eraser side of my face compared to the no-primer side. Second application: I tried to buff MMu on again like the first time, I was not sure it was working just by looking, although the makeup did seem to stay on. Third Application: I mixed my MMu with it, applied, then buffed just a little more on top with a dense brush. It looks really smooth and it is an improvement from the no-makeup side of my face. Not sure I can comment about pores and wrinkles looking improved, but it sure does make the MMu last, and apply smoothly. Overall Effectiveness: I did like this enough to try it again or buy it full size. You may have to play around with it to make it work for you. I'm going to try mixing in moisturizer next time also.
I put a 3 for price because it was a very small sample that was used up quickly, though priced higher than regular sample rates. Packing got a 4 because I found it difficult to scoop every last bit of eraser out of the reverse dome shaped jar.
Pros:Great product, works like it is supposed to. Did not break me out, despite its nature. Cons:Expensive and does not spread far. I hear it breaks some people out.
